John L. Aspinwall, Director and Chief Executive Officer
John Aspinwall is director and chief executive officer of Starkey Mortgage where he directs the company’s daily activities including loan production, secondary marketing, underwriting, compliance, quality control and information technology. John has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry including, community banking, public accounting, technology development and mortgage banking. Prior to founding Starkey Mortgage, he served as vice president and district manager for Sunbelt National Mortgage. John serves on Advisory Board of McCoy School of Business at Texas State University. He holds a B.A. in music from the University of Colorado at Denver and a BBA from Southwest Texas University. John is married with two children.
Scott A. Benson, Vice Chairman, Director and Executive Vice President
Scott Benson is director and executive vice president of Starkey Mortgage where he oversees the financing and accounting functions of the company. Scott has over 30 years of experience in financial services including over 20 years in mortgage banking finance. Prior to his role with Starkey Mortgage, he was executive vice president and chief financial officer for AccuBanc Mortgage Corporation. Scott holds a B.S. in accounting from San Diego State University and an MBA from University of California Los Angeles. He also holds a CPA certificate from the state of California.
Jim Clapp, President and Chief Financial Officer
Jim Clapp is president and chief financial officer of Starkey Mortgage where he oversees the management of all financial and accounting functions for the company. Jim has more than 17 years of experience in commercial banking with a focus on mortgage financing. Prior to his position at Starkey Mortgage, Jim served as senior vice president and division manager for one of the largest warehouse lending platforms in the country. He is a member of Friends of Lakewood and currently sits on the TCU Washington D.C. Alumni Board. Jim holds a B.A. in Finance and an MBA with a finance concentration from Texas Christian University. He is married with three children.
Sherry Colley, Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer
Sherry Colley is executive vice president and chief credit officer of Starkey Mortgage where she oversees all underwriting operations. Sherry has over 30 years of experience in mortgage financing. Prior to joining Starkey Mortgage in 2000, she served as operations underwriter for FTB Mortgage/Sunbelt.and product solutions.
Cari LaMere, Executive Vice President National Operations
Cari McCue LaMere is executive vice president of national operations for Starkey Mortgage where she oversees the processing, closing and disclosure departments with a focus on improving the mortgage loan process for better and faster workflow efficiency. Cari has over 20 years of mortgage industry experience with a diverse background which includes sales production, operations, servicing, compliance and secondary marketing. Prior to joining Starkey Mortgage, she served as COO of Guardian Mortgage. She holds a BBA in finance and accounting from the University of Arizona.
Doug Casbon, Executive Vice President and National Production Manager
Doug Casbon is executive vice president, national production manager of Starkey Mortgage where he is responsible for national loan origination production, growth and expansion. Doug has nearly 30 years of mortgage banking experience. Prior to joining Starkey he served in senior leadership positions with Bank of America and Countrywide Home Loans. Doug has a passion for growing purchase production and mentoring future leaders. Doug attended Georgia State University and has a bachelors in real estate and finance. He has been married for 34 years and has three children and three grandchildren.
Adam Pongrass, Executive Vice President of Secondary Marketing
Adam Pongrass is executive vice president of secondary marketing of Starkey Mortgage where he is responsible for all secondary marketing functions including pipeline and interest rate risk management best execution analysis, and investor relations for the company. Adam has 14 years of experience in the mortgage industry. Prior to joining Starkey Mortgage in 2000, he served as a financial analyst for AccuBanc Mortgage Corporation/Mortgage Support Group. Adam holds a BBA from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Julie M. Gross, Executive Vice President and Chief Training Officer
Julie Gross is executive vice president and chief training officer of Starkey Mortgage where she oversees the company’s overall operations. Julie has over 38 years of experience in the mortgage industry and was one of Starkey Mortgage’s first employees joining the company in 2000. Prior to joining Starkey Mortgage, Julie served as vice president and regional manager for Harbor Financial.
Mel Williams, Executive Vice President of Corporate Real Estate and Administrative Services
Mel has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, previously serving in a Chief Administrative Officer role for both First Horizon Home Loan Corporation/Sunbelt National Mortgage and Accubanc Mortgage Corporation. Mel holds a B.B.A. in both Finance and Management from Texas Tech University.
Todd Bergwall, Executive Vice President and General Counsel
Todd Bergwall is executive vice president and general counsel of Starkey Mortgage where he provides legal counsel in all areas of corporate governance. Todd has over 20 years of legal experience in a variety of industries including over seven years in mortgage finance. Prior to joining Starkey Mortgage in 2004, he served as interim general counsel for Siemens Dematic Postal Automation, L.P. Todd holds a B.A. in Political Science from Vanderbilt University and holds a J.D. from Memphis State University. He is a member of the Texas Bar Association, American Bar Association and Dallas Bar Association. Todd is married with three children.
Robin Bonnell, Senior Vice President and Director of Compliance
Robin Bonnell is senior vice president and director of compliance. She joined Starkey Mortgage in 2014. In this role, she oversees the Company’s Compliance Program and its Quality Control, Licensing, and Appraisal Departments and is responsible for implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements. Robin’s experience in the industry began in 1999 as a closing agent and she joined the front lines in the mortgage industry in 2008. She has worked at all levels of the mortgage business with previous positions as Loan Closer, Regional Closing Manager, and Director of Operations at large and small independent mortgage bankers. Robin studied Aeronautical Science at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. She is a private pilot, avid runner, and car enthusiast.
Lance Ludman, Senior Vice President of National Production
Lance Ludman is senior vice president of national production of Starkey Mortgage where he helps manage the day to day Production of all Starkey branches. Lance has over 17 years of experience in loan production. Prior to joining Starkey Mortgage in 2003, he served as a loan officer for a regional mortgage bank based in the Dallas area. Lance holds a BBA from Texas Christian University.
Jim Anderson, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer
Jim Anderson is senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Starkey Mortgage responsible for the strategic marketing vision and plan, design and development of end-to-end marketing solutions to build the brand, driving revenue growth and extending the company's reach in new and existing markets. Jim joined Starkey from Accenture, one of the world's largest Management Consulting Firms, where he led client relationships and engagements with focus on digital business process and strategic marketing transformation with Fortune 100 companies. Prior to Accenture, he spent 15+ years in the media and entertainment industry leading marketing teams at CNN and The Weather Channel. He oversaw the creation of award-winning marketing platforms, brand positioning and creative campaigns targeted to the advertising sales marketplace driving hundreds of millions in incremental revenue. Jim has a MS from the University of Kentucky and BA from Seton Hall University.
William Burke, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer
William Burke is senior vice president and chief information officer of Starkey Mortgage where he is responsible for all aspects of the company’s information technology and systems management, including the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems. William has over 13 years of experience in information technology. Prior to joining Starkey Mortgage in 2007, he served as vice president of information systems at Prime Lending. William holds a B.S. in Finance from Oklahoma State University.
Kelley Shea, Senior Vice President and Director of Human Resources
Kelley Shea is senior vice president and director of human resources of Starkey Mortgage where she is responsible for employee relations and the management of employment policies, processes, and practices. Kelley has over 12 years of experience in human resources and employee relations. Prior to joining Starkey Mortgage in 2010, she served as managing vice president of financial and benefit services and administration services for Grayhawk Companies. Kelley holds a B.S. in Education and an MSAS from the University of South Dakota. She has also held a Professional Human Resources Certification (PHR) since 2004.
